If anyone stumbled apon this discussion and is looking to fix it right click nexus mod manager hit run as administrator then go to settings and untick Associate with NXM URLs hit ok and then go back to settings and retick it and then hit ok and it should fix it.

I click vortex on the download for mods on nexus and it dosent start downloading them on vortex so i have to manualy download them to add them to the client which takes more time than downloading them Reported by: DuskieDragon.
